A black robe, sophisticated square hat complete with tassel; a world of achievement. Your name is called, ringing like a bell throughout history, the story of one soul’s journey through education.
Whatever! Who dreams of graduation? Stuffy, sweaty clothes and a whirlwind of ‘highly educated’ airs. No, graduation is just an excuse for a prom’”the party to celebrate a whole, long, tiresome year of schoolwork ‘“plus the eleven others that came before it. We all still need shiner prizes every once in a while, don’t we?
Well, this year the *Central Family Education Dept. & JT Board will be hosting for their area this ’shiner prize’ for years of faithful dedication to scholastics. (Okay, so maybe ‘faithful dedication’ is giving us a little too much credit. Hopefully they’ll wink at all those days of blatant rebellion against learning in general. For right now anyway, they’re content to give us a prom and we didn’t even have to ask. Who’s complaining?)
Right, so, our first official Prom/Graduation ceremony will be held in conjunction with June’s *MATCH Meeting, the 28th of June and will honor those graduating from10th grade, 12th grade, GED, and one or more CVC courses.
Exciting? We think so. I don’t know about the rest of you girls, but I never miss a chance to play dress-up, and as for you guys’”no, this is not one of those ‘overgrown-superheroes-in-Speedos’ sort of dress-up parties. A suit and tie isn’t aiming too high (hey, I rhymed) and if you really want to stretch your faith, ask the Lord for His supply of a Tux! Can’t come too fancy! If you can get some donated clothes for the event– all well and good– but don’t empty your bank account to look good. *Monthly Area Teen Classes in Houston
And don’t forget, if you are graduating from one of the following, you are eligible to be a part of our Graduation Ceremony before the prom party: 10th grade, 12th grade, GED, and one or more CVC courses.
We’re looking forward to seeing all you ‘faithful, dedicated’ students at this exciting upcoming event. So until then, keep dreaming of grad caps and gowns and buckle down on your scholastics so you won’t miss all the fun! Also, please keep this event in your prayers, for determination, strength, and organization for those planning this event, as there are a lot of preparations to be made and so much to do. We love you all and hope to be seeing you in June.
