Book Shipping

By Elise, South America

Hot tip for traveling missionaries from the US or those needing to ship books or school books abroad! This last year in working on the books we would need for the coming school year, we were a bit at a loss as to how to get them from the US to us here in South America. We usually rely on trips coming back and forth, but this time it wasn’t working out. It was then that someone who moved here recently told us about the “M-Bag” option and how they had used this is moving here to Chile, sending all of their books in several shipments which arrived a little over a month after they did. (Note: M-bags is a special service to send books or printed matter to an international address at a reduced postage rate.) So in looking into this option, we were able to have all of the books that we needed sent to someone in the US who helped in packaging and sending it to us. It was over 100 pounds of books, sent in 3 packages for only a little over $1 a pound and it arrived at our post office about 8 weeks after they were sent.

For more information on this and if and how it would work for you in your situation, please see the following link:

Update: The price for shipping is now around $3 a pound.
