To Mike Holland, Dutch Papa of the Year
February 2006
I just want to write something about my husband, Mike Holland, who is a true super Dad. As I write this he’s putting Justin, our nearly-two-year-old, to bed for the night. I’m nearly seven months pregnant and he’s been there for me every day, and is helping more and more with our toddler. He does the solo parent time thing at least three nights a week so that I can go to a
nearby gym and swim, to stay in shape during my pregnancy, as my legs have a tendency to cramp up when I miss my get out. If Justin gets insomnia in the night, it’s Mike who gets up with him every time now, as I just need way too much sleep at this point, ha.
The other night it was his turn to have some free time, and he suggested that instead we all jump in the car together and go fellowship at a nearby home, and we stopped on the way to see some llamas, a horse, and a goat. His son Justin just adores him, cries when he leaves to take care of the tool orders at Activated Ministries every day, and runs to him in delight when he
gets home. Justin is inheriting so many wonderful traits from his Papa, of calmness and kindness, tenderheartedness, studiousness, and a special touch of genius that I’m sure less biased people recognize too.
So this is just a shout out to my wonderful guy, Mike. We don’t know what we’d do without you, and I couldn’t ask for a better Papa for our son and soon-to-be second son/daughter, or a better half for myself.
Love your adoring wife,
Anaik
